In these short plays, Tennessee Williams experimented with the kinds of characters and themes that he developed more fully in his longer works. In his one-acts, Williams tells the stories of those left behindÔÇömisfits, dreamers, artists, and outcastsÔÇöas an increasingly mechanistic and profit-driven ethos comes to dominate American society. These short plays are character driven, lyrical, and highly theatrical.
